THE HORIZON
Many a time I stand alone and Gaze
See many a distance from my vantage
Where everything ends up in a thick haze
Then the questions flow in in a barrage
Then I really do know that my heart rend
That my melancholy is not simple
I wonder what goes on at the far end
Is there a place to call home for people?
All folks get busy pruning their own worth
Trials and challenges follow each day
The hunger of the boy is no one’s fault
My dear, money don’t come the easy way
But can you spare a minute to listen
Prayer is the key, action is the door
It should not be just words and reasoning
You can make life easy for the poor
Defend their rights and fight all oppression
They cannot afford what you can pay for
Stay and advocate for good policies
Let’s rid the society of flaws
I studiously gaze at the horizon
I see a new hue to the looming future
We can paint hope in the sky for all to see
We can make right every fault in the mirror
This is what I do stand for, my belief
That if the sun fails to shine, we beam light
If homes crumble, we offer kind relief
A world that cares, a people reaching their height
