FRESH FACULTY ELECTIONS SET TO HOLD NEXT WEEK THURSDAY; ACJOAU CLARIFIES ISSUES CONCERNING MISLEADING THE CROWD
Oluwaseun Alokan
The DSA had on Tuesday nullified all elections made by all
faculties in the university and ordered for another fresh election, the
candidates that emerge in the last election show their grievances toward the
annulment of this election. The Acting Dean, Dr Akinola ordered all faculties
to conduct fresh next week Thursday for electoral commissioner and electoral petitioner, both to represent the faculty for the upcoming students union election and also promise to declare a lecture free period during those hours
However, ACJOAU has also cleared the air about the allegations labelled
against them of misinforming Great Ife Students, ACJOAU relay the information
of the first meeting they had with DSA the first day to the students and that
another meeting was held without the awareness of ACJ, the association
therefore issue the communiqué of the first meeting which later cause
controversy
Below is the release of ACJOAU

OAU FACULTY CONGRESSES: CLARIFYING THE ISSUES
We feel it very important to write at this moment as turn of events
makes our comments important.
Yesterday(On Tuesday). at the Division of Students Affairs meeting
with Student Representatives from faculties, ACJOAU was accused of 'misleading
' faculties owning to the communique earlier issued by the body before now,
some persons blamed ACJOAU for not stating that the two persons to be presented
will forthwith go on to represent faculties at electoral commission and
Electoral petition .
Recall that a particular faculty President earlier released a
rejoinder to our communique which also faulted our position, however as our
integrity is of high importance to us, it is necessary to clarify issues.
Definitely , the our communique rightly reported contents of the
1st meeting held with the Acting Dean and Vice Dean, however, there were
modifications to the resolutions of the meeting that ACJOAU was not aware of,
some changes were made and since we weren't aware, we reported the Meeting
Resolution as it was agreed upon, and we
were not aware of resolutions to change some of the agreements reached at the
meeting, whatever happened after the meeting wasn't communicated to us and it
is not in our place or etiquette to report with guess works, what we think
should be except we are writing an opinionated article which comes as a press
statement, we understand that some persons don't understand how Journalism
operates, so we fully understand, we however feel a rejoinder to the communique
wouldn't have been necessary since all faculty Presidents were at the meeting and participated actively
in it, however, the need to clarify is important and hence the reason for this
short statement, while as a factor of respect we would refuse to reply directly
the Faculty President who wrote this article and took it quite personal, ours
is to ensure that masses get nothing but the truth, without it been
adulterated.
We wish all faculties the best as they hold their Congresses on the
15th of September, 2016, by 4PM, we wish that all those who will participate in
this do that peacefully and put selfless service at heart, personal
glorification shouldn't be the reason for contesting.
Journalists and News agencies on campus under the aegis of ACJOAU,
would also be observing/monitoring all Faculty CONGRESSES across the University
as a part of her functions, all Faculties including those who have held their
congresses before now are to hold another Congress on this day, this was
according to the resolution reached at the meeting and Echoed by Acting Dean,
Dr Akinola "Due to time to campaign and prepare all thirteen Faculties are
to hold another election on 15th day of September,2016.
A lecture free period of between 3:30pm to 5:30pm according to the
Acting Dean, DSA , Dr Akinola "would be declared".
At ACJOAU, asserting the strength of the Pen would always be our
guide .
Thanks
