My Time My Life - Oluwaseun Cephas

HOW DO YOU SPEND YOUR TIME

Oluwaseun Cephas

I cannot forget the day I was asked a question “what is the most important asset God has given to man?” The question was very simple but provoked a critical thinking in me, as many thoughts ran through my mind “is it my brain?”, “is it this?”,” is it that?” but I eventually concluded its salvation because I felt we are in a church. I became unhappy as the answer I gave to the question was incorrect [though partially correct] and at the same time was happy to know the correct answer, which is time.

Steve Jobs said “my favourite thing in life does cost any money. It’s really clear that the most precious resource we have is time”. One could say this successful entrepreneur has made good use of his time during his time to project himself to a level of loftiness great success.
As a student, it is important for us to know that the only consequential time we have is time as this will differentiate a top student from others. God is never to be blamed if you fail to have “A” or “B” in a course or whether you have a “E” or “F”. your friends might be having “As” in their exams, 24hours were given to them and also were given to you. Time is indeed what differentiates a successful individual from an unsuccessful one.

It’s just a beginning of a new semester and you think this is the time to rest or to be involve in some unnecessary activities, you are whirling your time away, until you have this in your mind that how well you spend your day will have a consequential effect on your future, you will not be so carefree on time management. Mandela will always encourage proper usage of time as he said “we must use time wisely…” hence justifying the succinct statement of Benjamin Franklin which states that “lost time is never found again”.

We have many first class graduate who involved themselves in school politics and still make it, they use their time wisely. So today, find a pen, book and draw a plan, you have only 24 hours, figure out how to manage it, set your priorities right and success will come playing with you.
