THEAlake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, has flayed an alleged plan by the Federal Government to stop the College of Management Sciences, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.

Consequently, the monarch has written a letter of appeal dated May 15 to President Muhammadu Buhari, to stop the implementation of such a plan. He also copied the member of the House of Representatives, representing Abeokuta South, Olusegun Williams.
He said, “As the Alake and paramount ruler of Egbaland, I have been inundated with visits, protests and complaints from stakeholders from the academia, business community, parents, students and other concerned individuals within and outside Ogun State.
“These contacts and interactions with the concerned stakeholders enabled me to even feel more worried about the situation, which I believe requires a most urgent reversal.
FUTA: INSTITUTION SATELLITE FOR THE CAPACITY BUILDING
“As you know, the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, in September 2011 established the College of Management Sciences in response to the directive of the then President and Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, to all specialised federal universities to diversify their academic programmes to enhance access to higher education in the country with a view to accommodating the teeming admission seekers.
“The recent directive issued by the Minister of Education, Alhaji Adamu Adamu, has apparently made nonsense of a popular and progressive policy.”
“To deny FUNAAB the opportunity of continuing with her management courses is to bring a lot of sadness to the army of eligible students who on an annual basis look forward to that university as one of the choices for achieving their life-long dreams.
“It is the view of the Egba people and other communities in Ogun State that the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, be allowed to retain and continue the various management courses that it offers.”
