After the suspension of the long industrial strike by the Non Academic Staff Union, NASU, due to the fact that they had not been paid their allowances for some months now and most especially, because the school management did not follow due process in appointment of a new Vice Chancellor of this great citadel of learning. They were agitating for another new syndicate to chair the affair of the institution because the last administration had not been treating them as workers of the community. The initial person who was inaugurated by not following due process was the Deputy Vice Chancellor in administration in the person of Professor Ayobami Salami, but the union fought a great fight to oust him with the intervention of the federal government. Later in the cause of event, the federal government told the school that they should choose an acting vice chancellor among them. That led to the appointment of a professor of pharmacognosy in the person of Professor  Anthony Elujoba to act as an Acting Vice Chancellor of the school. Since then some new things have been happen in the school.

Furthermore ,it was just barely three days in office that the new acting vice chancellor have started exploring the whole halls of residence in which he first went to Awolowo hall where the substantial number of students welcomed him with great joy and to other halls. The aim of exploring the halls is to make sure all the facilities like toilets, bathrooms e t c in each hall to have a good look by renovating it. After that,  The Senate of the school met, in which the meeting was headed by the new acting vice chancellor and deliberated about the new resumption date and other matters arising, eventually 7th of August 2016 was brought up to be our new resumption date with a very tight calendar due to delay, in which the institution is lagging behind in the session. The school started the new academic session in earnest as the most popular course code name CHM101 started in the wee hours of Monday, 7th of August 2016 as most student arrived before the day to prepare for the session.

In addition, this report will not be completed without the story of an abrupt black out that engulfed the campus due to the epileptic and incessant power failure, to be intuit as students, we are already concluding in our minds that this present administration will be worse than omole –led administration because of the power failure that loomed the horizon of this institution. We discovered as students that we cannot do anything without light on campus, and to some student they believed that if there is no light, there nothing on campus. This major setback thereby causing some effects on students disallowing them in doing some specific thing on campus like reading their books which is their primary aim of coming to this institution. Another effect was students were unable to have access to the most popular wi-fi network  which is called INTECU. There are many other effects in which power failure is causing on campus. Nevertheless the school passed  circulars across all halls of residence at the eleventh hour, giving us the reasons why the light have been ceased for quite some time, unknown to the students that the power equipment are under repair .Eventually the light was restored back to a normal state.

However, there was a news about some cultists on campus that they were in the wee days of this semester which engulfed the whole school in a great fear. Eventually some numbers of them were caught by the security committee of the student union. As we all know that the great Ife students have a zero tolerance for cultism and all manner of atrocities, so the committee made sure that the cultists were properly brought to book. Furthermore, the association of journalists on this campus held a general meeting on the 27th of August 2016, and this meeting was majorly based on whether any  journalist can contesting for  posts in department or faculty. After much deliberations and arguments on the matter, the members of the association took a position that no member of the association must contest for any departmental or faculty post. It agreed by the members of the meeting that all politicians should resign from their political position all all resolutions to take effect immediately. Other resolutions were made in the course of the meeting in which the president presided over the meeting.

In addition, we must not forget that this report will not be complete if we will not report the event that came up for the freshmen as touching the matriculation day, that was on the 1st of September 2016 in which the event was colorful. Even though the Acting Vice Chancellor was not present throughout the ceremony but he was present for the first batch of the students who were matriculated. About 7500 students were matriculated on the day and people of various works of lives came to grace the event. Parents came to celebrate their wards and they are happy for counting their wards among other wards to study in the great
