The dean disclosed this while giving out her welcome address during the swearing in of the newly elected student union officials of Hall executive Council (HEC), Students Representative Council (SRC) and Central Executive Council on the 6th of march 2017.
Akinola, a Don from the department of Management and Accounting said “I enjoin the students union leaders to support the management, the Acting Vice Chancellor is so much interested in students’ Union that is alive,
“When we came on board, we discussed on the need to give students their voice and on the 28th of October, the Registrar of the university signed a release that the management have lifted ban on the students union, when we asked for two representatives from each faculties, some students thought otherwise and on the 11th of February election started properly and today we have a consyitutionally consitutetd students union"

The President of the union, Oyekan Ibukun assured the university that the union will cooperate with the management and collectively see to the better welfare of students of the Great Citadel of Learning.

It would be recalled that the activities of OAU students union was proscribed by Professor Bamitale Omole- led administration in 2015, after a peaceful protest over poor welfare of the students
